Holistic, Heart-Centered Counseling & Therapies
My belief is that true happiness and lasting peace cannot be found without a spiritual connection. To me, God is the source of love and joy. The more connected we are to our source, the more we can experience these higher states.
It is sometimes difficult to separate personal growth work from spirituality because the two are often so intimately intertwined. Although clients may not come to therapy seeking spiritual counseling, the work itself can prompt existential questions. Past trauma, crisis, grief or loss and other life circumstances often lead people to seeking a higher purpose for their experiences. Spiritual counseling provides meaningful context for one’s personal work and can deepen the healing.
During spiritual counseling, I often incorporate prayer and spiritual symbols that may be meaningful to the client. I also ask for assistance from spiritual figures with which the client identifies to call forth support from higher spiritual realms.
Is It Right for Me?
Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you. - Luke 11:36
What Are the Benefits?
Spiritual counseling is a process for guiding each person on their unique journey of spiritual growth. As a spiritual counselor, my goal is to support clients in discovering their own spiritual truths and to help them experience and deepen their relationship with the Divine, whatever they perceive the Divine to be.
As an ordained, interfaith minister with certification in spiritual counseling, my training has provided me with a foundation and an understanding of all of the major religions of the world. While I consider myself a Christian, I honor all faiths and paths to God.
I believe that we are beautiful, loving, magnificent beings because we are made in the image and likeness of our Creator. The essence of spiritual counseling, then, is about clearing everything that keeps us from being aware of and experiencing the truth of who we really are — extensions of God. I consider this profoundly sacred work.
What Is It?
Spiritual counseling may be right for you if:
No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. - Luke 11:33
